Description

An antique campaign sewing and jewellery box, brass bound. It measures 12 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ and weighs over 2 1/2 kilos. Made of solid exotic wood very like mahogany with brass bound corners and quarter round brass edging. It has brass fittings a heart shape escutcheon plate, brass diamond inlay, and rope twist inlay to the top. Inside, the usual compartments for sewing tools or jewellery. Some of the original bovine bone fittings remain. There is a mirror in the lid which is removable. There is also a large storage area under the removable tray. This most probably belonged to a British army officer’s wife. All sound, and made to last forever. For UK buyers only.
