Description

This exceptional ship in a bottle is a three mast sailing ship is set in a seascape diorama. It has been built in a pinched (indentation) Scottish whiskey bottle, and it is remarkably well detailed.
The diorama displays the ship running at speed through choppy seas with a full display of sails capturing a powerful wind.

The most talented artist, James McGee, has titled the diorama “The Sunray”.
The modelling is one of the best examples I have seen. The ship is incredibly accurate with superb scale and wonderful detail to the masts, rigging and sails. The deck is wonderfully detailed with cabins, hatches and gallery rails.

The quality of the painting is equal to that of the build, making this wonderful diorama, which is a miniature work of art.

Many interesting bottles are charming but quite naïve. This is a fine, rare example built to a very high standard.
