Antique Georgian moss agate and silver brooch

Description

An English antique Georgian silver mounted moss agate brooch circa 1800

This lovely Georgian antique brooch is made from unmarked silver (tested) which is not unusual for jewellery from this early period.

The beautifully polished stone tablet is a piece of moss agate which has a wonderful natural figured grain which looks very much like growing moss, hence the name.

The stone is set into a plain silver frame decorated with applied delicate silver scrolls and a matching ball at each end. The hinged pin is made from nickel for extra strength and resilience.

This brooch is in good condition, English circa 1800 and being nearly 225 years old it is a true survivor.
