A mid 20th century still life oil painting by Phyllis Kirch

This highly decorative mid 20th century oil on canvas follows in the influence of the early 16th century Dutch artists with its dark atmospheric background and vibrant still life display of interesting flowers and foliage which include irises., lilies, tulips, agapanthus, and large foliage leaves all displayed in a simple bowl. The image is beautifully hand painted in oils onto a stretchered canvas and displayed in its original swept frame which is in good condition but does show some light age related shrinkage cracks to the corners adding to its ambiance. The artist, Phyllis Kirch is obviously very well accomplished and most likely a professional painter who produced stunning images.
