Description

This superb English twin handled commemorative glass goblet is rare and most likely made as a one-off as it is not numbered. It was made to commemorate the coronation of George V and Queen Mary on June 22nd 1911 and carries this hand engraved inscription on one side with a finely detailed crown above. On the opposite there is a beautifully engraved display of the English rose with the Irish cloverleaf and the Scottish thistle. This fine goblet stands on an intricate and boldly cut star shaped foot from which the hollow faceted stem rises which remarkably has an encased loose silver George V 3d coin from 1912 in mint condition within it. The stem finishes with a flared ring that supports the body of the goblet which has a matching star cut decorative base from which the plain vessel rises with a gentle flare and to each side, there is a matching shaped handle. In excellent condition, English 1912.
