Description

This beautifully made scratch built model of a early 19th century gig has meticulous detail made from oak with fittings made from copper and steel. It has been made with an adjustable drivers seat which moves backwards and forwards on a threaded mechanism which operates with a turn handle located in front of the seat. The interior of the carriage is lined and upholstered in leather cloth. Behind the seat there is a luggage area which has a hinged back panel for access .
The carriage sits on leaf springs mounted to the axil with large hand built spoked wheels with leather rims. To the underside there are carved letters which read Frix Stamfor which could be the makers signature . Circa 1900
