Description

This superb late 19th century black forest carved walnut writing stand was made in Triberg, Germany Circa 1900. This area was renowned for the manufacturing of cuckoo clocks.
This delightful novelty writing stand is carved in the form of a cat and dog looking over a wall which has a dished surface for pens.
The cat and dog are beautifully carved and have inset glass eyes. When the heads are lifted back they reveal a glass ink well and a carved inset for postage stamps.
This writing stand is in very good condition .
