Description

Rare Arts & Crafts copper mirror decorated with a raised fish swimming down each side. To the base are three raised swirls and to the top is a stylised octopus. Although appearing to be Newlyn, this was in fact made by Francis Cargeeg (1893 -1981) of Hayle in Cornwall. Francis was also known as Tan Dyvarow which means undying fire. He produced some beautiful copper items and this have his signature Celtic influence raised swirls and this mirror has all the quality of a Newlyn mirror
Height 56cms. Width 41cms. Depth 3cms.
Offered in good original condition with original glass. This has a few specs. The backing has been replaced and the hook has been slightly bent backwards but hangs well. Some cleaning polish residue and minor water streaks to base.
