Description

This is a fantastic example of 19th Century acid etched glass which became a popular decorative and practical feature used on front door panels, internal doors, windows, skylights, and even mirrors. The etched glass offered privacy without sacrificing natural light, essential in Victorian homes with limited lighting. Designs were varied, featuring natural motifs like leaves, flowers, birds, and vines. This large panel is framed and details a majestic eagle with its wings out-stretched. The panel could be incorporated into a door or window, or just hung as an attractive decorative feature.
