Description

WINDSOR FARMHOUSE ARMCHAIR, TURNED SPINDLE BACK, IN BEECH, ASH & ELM, C1880

A Windsor farmhouse armchair with turned spindles in the back, scroll over arms, slender under arm turnings and interesting shaped top comb rail. There is a maker’s stamp on the rear edge of the seat ‘W E Bush’. Dr Bernard Cotton’s epic tome ‘The English Regional Chair’ records a ‘William Bush’ as a chair maker in Nottinghamshire in the latter part of the 19th century and this may well be a chair of his making. Original condition and finish.

The Real Wood Furniture(Chris Baylis) has large showrooms in the Cotswolds, specialising in English Windsor chairs, but also stocking an eclectic mix of decorative and fine furniture, objects, garden pieces etc.
