Description

This is a very attractive and unusual gilt and gesso French overmantle mirror which dates from around 1860. The mirror has its original gilt finish which is in really good condition, with an attractive antique rubbed appearance in places. The mirror's glass is the original bevelled plate in good useable condition with only minor ageing and spotting as per the age of the piece. The very ornate floral frame is attractively detailed with flowering Brugmansia, or angels trumpets which retain their original gilding with a lovely soft gold appearance. The mirror is a fine size for a wall or hall piece or would fit nicely above a fireplace. The measurements are 144 cms high by 104 cms wide. These are the maximum extremities of the piece.
