Description

This is a characterful Tekke Turkman Ensi carpet from the Emirate of Bukhara. It has a rich warm colour palette the madder field of candelabra motifs enclosed by serrated leaf borders and an elem border at one one with stylised flowerheads. This type of square rug was used in tent doorways. The carpet is in good condition save for some slight wear to the elem (the wider border at one end) and is a useful size measuring 149 cms by 113 cms.
