Description

This is a beautiful Meiji period Japanese Satsuma Koro from the Kinzokan dynasty dating from around 1890.

The urn has a cushioned square form, typically decorated with maidens in panels on a blue ground highlighted in gilt. This bears the three-character mark for Kinkozan to the base and is finely detailed as is usual with these pieces.

Kinkozan was a celebrated dynasty of Japanese potters and a renowned company based in Kyoto active from 1645 until 1927.

They are considered one of the most important families in the history of Japanese ceramics.
Perfect condition with no damage or restoration.

The piece measures 10 cms square and is 9 cms high.
