Description

This is a really beautiful Japanese, solid bronze hand held mirror with a great colour and patina dating from around 1890. The well decorated side has raised cast designs with a fine bristle cone pine tree of great scale with storks at the foot and in the air, as well as Japanese calligraphy.
The plain side would have been highly polished in the 1800s to use for reflection however it has been fitted with bronze wire now for hanging display purposes as this is such an aesthetically pleasing piece.
This is one of two very similar mirrors we currently have listed, this being the smaller of the two.
This mirror measures 30 cms by 20 cms overall.
These will have been from a prosperous Japanese family and highly prized items.
