Description

This is a charming sampler embroidery in really excellent condition dating from around 1860. The sampler illustrates many typical motifs with central tree of life above a Georgian house with birds on the chimneys and dogs to the sides flanked by large urns of flowers.
The work bears the embroiderers initials M. F. either side of the central tree with bold red flowers and birds in the branches. There are cats and turkeys present in the work as well as many floral displays and urns issuing flowers. The work has a wonderful symmetry to it and is surrounded by a delightful embroidered floral border.
This is in excellent order with really striking bold colours. It is in its original burr walnut frame that measures 40 cms by 40 cms overall.
