Description

This is a superb 19th century French table or mantle clock in excellent condition in beautifully carved white alabaster dating from around 1860.
The movement runs for eight days, striking a lovely soft tone on a bell on the hour and half hour and is wound once a week with the original key still present.
The carved alabaster is very nicely detailed to the three separate sections that make up the ensemble. The upper section has an imposing urn to the centre and is set on a dentiled cornice above the clock case.
The case itself is beautifully carved with applied flower and leaf decoration and houses the gilt bronze dial which is very attractively detailed. The base of the clock again is in lovely condition and is extremely well carved with ribbons and a wonderful garland of roses above the foliate carved frieze.
What a stunner.
The clock measures 65 cms high overall on the plinth which is 37 cms wide by 19 cms deep.
