Description

This is a good English Gilt Overmantel mirror of Chippendale influenced design in excellent original condition dating from around 1850. The original gilding is in lovely condition with a delightful softly rubbed gilded surface to the hand carved giltwood frame. The mirror has a very elegant look, quite rare in its design with scrolled and shell moulded terminals and a curled projecting acanthus leaf pediment. The mirror glass is the original mercury plate in excellent order with no blemishes. This is very handsome and decorative example. It is a practical size with nice proportions measuring 131cms wide by 106 cms high.
