Description

This is a beautiful antique Kurdish Maslaghan rug dating from the late 19th century. Maslaghan rugs are characterised by a single, central medallion that is surrounded by a large diamond with jagged "lightning pattern" edges. In this example, the yellow outline of the diamond provides stunning contrast with the red interior and the dark blue field decorated with columns of rosettes. The centre is framed by floral-decorated triple borders.
The rug is in excellent condition and measures 190cm by 135cm.
