Description

This is a fabulous Ziegler carpet of the highest quality in a beautifully rich colour palette dating from the mid 20th Century. The carpet has a rich warm red ground filled with large stylised flower motifs. The deep borders are a rich dark indigo also with stylised flower heads. The original Ziegler carpets were based upon classic Persian designs but refashioned to suit a more Western taste around the turn of the century. They have continued to be immensely popular with many carpet makers creating their own versions over the years.
This carpet is expertly handwoven in pure wool and well drawn, resulting in a carpet which is very robust but also soft to touch and pleasing to the eye. It is very heavy with a good deep pile which helps it lay flat upon the floor and strong enough to give many many years of service.
In excellent clean condition throughout, the carpet is a great room size measuring 368 cms by 275 cms.
