Description

This is a superb rare early 19th century single Fusee movement mantle clock with verge escapement.
The decorative painted metal case is in green chinoiserie with Oriental scenes of figure in a boat, fisherman by a lake, pagodas, trees and mountains. The clock has a very decorative rococo bronze ormolu base with fabulous acanthus scroll feet and a pierced fret ormolu crest and cast ormolu carrying handle.
This has a very much a country house look and comes with great provenance being formerly the property of Lord Lambton of Durham.
The movement is a rare verge escapement with Bob pendulum and has been completely overhauled and fully serviced by our horologist so is fully working keeping good time needing a wind once a week.
