Description

This is a really charming Meiji period Japanese porcelain figure of a recumbent cat dating from around 1900. The cat is beautifully modelled, asleep wearing an ironstone red and turquoise spotted scarf. He has lovely gilded detail to highlight his markings and a really characterful sleepy face. This is in perfect condition save for a very minor historic chip to the inside of one ear.

The cat is actually a full life size model measuring 31cms by 20 cms by 13 cms high.
