Description

This is a really charming Meiji period Japanese porcelain figure of a recumbent cat dating from around 1900. The black and white cat is beautifully modelled, asleep wearing a beautiful pale gold silk scarf with a gold bell at each side. He has lovely detail to highlight his markings and a really characterful sleepy face. This is in good condition save for some crazing to the glaze to the back of the cat (see photos).

(We also have a very similar sized white and gold cat for sale which is in perfect condition and they look great together.)

The cat measures 18 cms by 10 cms by 8 cms high.
