Description

This is a good early 19th century Cantonese porcelain jardiniere in super condition dating from the Daoguang period. The Daoguang Emperor, born Mianning, was the seventh Emperor of the Qing dynasty and the sixth Qing emperor to rule over China proper, reigning from 1820 to 1850. This jardiniere is a good example from that period in quality hard paste porcelain with enamel glaze and is beautifully hand decorated with courtly figures in a garden setting around the six sides of the hexagonal bowl. The rim is also beautifully hand painted with a floral border of peonies and butterflies.
This is in excellent condition with only a couple of minor nibbles to the rim edge and measures 21 cms in diameter by 14 cms high.
