Description

This is a good walnut cased double fusee movement wall clock dating from the early Victorian era, circa 1840. The clock runs for eight days and strikes the hour on a bell every hour. The case is predominantly in walnut, with oak and mahogany veneers as well as attractive mother of pearl and solid brass inlays. The clock has its original dial which has been retouched slightly around the keyholes retaining the original colour. The retailers name is painted to the dial, Birkle Brothers & co of Ipswich. The good quality movement is attributed to the well reknowned German Black Forest maker Johann Baptist Bayer.
This clock measures 52 cms high by 35 cms wide and is 15 cms deep.
