Description

This is a good very large Chinese Tang style caprisoned horse decorated in the Sancai glaze of amber, green and creamy white that was particularly associated with the Tang Dynasty 618-907 and its tomb figures. The horse is modelled with open mouth, projecting tail and raised front leg stance. This example dates from around 1920 and is in perfect condition with no damage or restoration.
The horse is an imposing piece of good scale measuring 36 cms high 45 cms long by 12 cms deep.
