Description

This is a wonderful hand woven soft woollen Donegal carpet from Killybegs in West Ireland. Donegal carpets was established by Scottish textile manufacturer Alexander Morton in 1895. It arose out of the Arts and Crafts movement prevalent at the turn of the century and nowadays the carpets are known world wide for their quality of weave and design.
This carpet dates from around 1900 and is very much in the Arts and Crafts taste. It has an all over design of flowing vines, flowerheads and trailing plants in a salmon pink field enclosed by guard stripes and deep palmette borders. This quality carpet is in super condition and has a really soft handle. Its subdued but warm colours would add warm and grace to any living space.

In clean ready to use condition this measures a generous 407 cms by 246 cms.
