Description

This is a charming American Shaker wooden sugar box which dates from the 1800s. The piece is a traditionally constructed lidded bucket and would have been used to store sugar. The box or firkin is in excellent condition and has its original soft fern green paint finish, beautifully rubbed back, with a lovely patina. It measures 25 cms high and is 28 cms in diameter. There is a name on the box lid Ephraim Murdoch Jr.
A very decorative piece.
