Description

This is a charming soapstone carving of a deer dating from the late 19th Century. The beautiful carving has a good warm amber colour on a darker contrasting pierced base and is a very tactile piece. This has presumably been made as an incense burner as it has a small shelf or sconce to the top of the deer's head. The soapstone deer stands 29 cms tall, 12 cms wide and is 6 cms deep.
