Description

This is an antique Isfahan carpet with an interesting and unusual design which dates from the late 19th Century. The carpet has a muted and aged colour palette which gives it a lot of charm. Isfahans generally have quite intricate curvaceous designs in fine wool and this one is a very good example, the deep russet field being filled with trailing plants and flowers. It has deep borders with pretty meandering vines, and the central medallion is so dense in its design it appears almost organic.
The carpet has even wear throughout and complete ends and selvedges.
It measures 130 cms by 118 cms.
