Description

This is a beautiful large French overmantle with original gilding and mirror plate. The mirror dates from the late 19th century circa 1870 and is in lovely order. The mirror has a large decorative crest to the top and good detail to the frame and the original glass is in good antique condition with some ageing marks as per its age. The frame has pretty outer margin mirrors that enhance the appeal of the piece, these are attractively cut with circular decoration and are held in place by pretty raised glass florets. (One of these is missing to the bottom where the margin strip has a very minor crack as photographed, its barely noticeable without close scrutiny and does not detract from the overall appeal). The piece retains its original backboards and is a grand size, measuring 174 cms high by 110 cms wide overall.
