Description

This handsome George III mahogany longcase clock is a beautiful example in lovely condition. The 8 day movement is by John Pile of South Shields (active from c.1782-97) and is signed on the attractive circular painted dial. The clock is in excellent working order with the movement having been fully overhauled recently by our restorer and comes with a full years guarantee. The case is in nice condition with a lovely colour and patina and is attractively inlaid with satinwood to the canted corners. There is further satinwood inlaid detail to the base, the door and the panel beneath the central spire. The pierced swan neck fretwork to the hood is a particularly attractive feature. (Right side has had some restoration but is barely noticable). The glazed door has an ogee moulded frame with deep colour. The clock is raised on the original bracket feet to the base that are again in excellent order.
This clock has lovely proportions measuring 92" in height 19" inches wide by 9 and a half inches deep.
