Description

This is a lovely Tunbridge ware box from circa 1870. The maker of this box is likely Henry Hollamby, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, a highly valued maker of Tunbridge ware. This is a cushion topped box with an image of Bayham Abbey in East Sussex on the lid. Around the sides can be seen floral borders of roses and leaves set between ebony borders.

The interior lid keeps the original fuchsia silk fabric. The bottom has a matched colour silk fabric which is a replacement. The condition of this box is excellent and the lock and key are working. The box has been professionally cleaned and polished.
