Superb 19thC Italian Ebony Jewellery Casket

Description
This is a superb 19thc Northern Italian ebony and fruitwood casket. The classical style foliage is made of mother of pearl, bone and fruitwood.The lid has a moulded edge that conforms to the mould of the base. The interior contains the original crimson red velvet lining and the base is covered with the same fabric. The box is fitted with twin brass hinges and a steel lock with the key.
A nearly identical box was sold at Christies in 2015 as part of the property of Principessa Ismene Chigi Della Rovere from Genoa. The only difference between this box and the Christies box is that theirs had the Princess' initials set inside the wreath on the lid.
This box is in excellent condition with no missing inlay or veneer.
