Description

A magnificent and rare example of an expanding bookslide or book ends. The quality is exceptional and made from cast polished brass standing on four decorative foliate feet.

Of course what makes these of special interest is undoubtedly the two fabulous cold painted bronze fox head figures, most probably Austrian in origin.

The bookslide is strongly sprung and expands approximately another 8" in length to accommodate more books and springs back to hold them tightly shut.

Quite superb in excellent condition. Approximately 13" in length expanding a further 8" x 5 1/4" wide. Each Fox head measuring 2 1/4" x 2 1/4". Victorian in era, dating to around 1890.
