Description

About as good as they get, this has clearly been tucked away safely for the last 100 years or so. Made from Burgundy coloured leather, the front of the case is mounted with a sterling silver plate about as crisp as they day it was made. The repousse decoration featuring the much sought-after Reynold's Angels scene surrounded by a stunning Art Nouveau floral and foliate border.

The silver is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1904 and in the opposite corner the maker's initials can be found for the famous Boots Pure Drug Company. The case contains two books with the spines gold embossed, one Common Prayer and the other, Hymns Ancient and Modern. One has a hand written presentation note dated 1905. The books are just magnificent, really pristine, almost untouched condition.

The case measures 3 3/4" x 2 1/2" x 1 1/4" thick (excluding handle).
