Description

A wonderful book holder, which is known as a bookslide, as it slides open to accommodate more or less books as required.

Each of the ends is beautifully carved in the form of an Owl, quality carving and beautifully executed. Both the Owl's retain there wonderful original glass eyes.

Dating to the late Victorian era, around 1890, it remains in superb condition. 17" x 6", the Owls measuring 6 1/2" tall. The opening for the books measures 14 1/2 c" expanding to 22 1/2".
