Description

A most unusual late Victorian fine string or twine box made from glass with a star cut base, the base mounted with a sterling silver foot and fitted with a solid silver lid topped with a cutter.

The lid is fully hallmarked for the highly collectable Chester assay office and struck in the year 1899, a true Victorian example. The makers mark is also present for the well renowned silversmith, James Deakin & Sons - John & William Deakin.

Very good condition with minor wear commensurate with age measuring 3" in diameter x 3 1/2" tall to top of cutter.
