Antique English Bachelor Tea Set In Stand c.1900

Description

Always a popular one with the designers and decorators, these small bachelor tea services add a wonderful finishing touch to almost any room. Known as a "Bachelor" set as it is a small set meant for one.

This one is particularly unusual complete sitting in it's own caddy or holder. The stand and sugar bowl both have matching makers marks JS over &S into a shield, I believe for the silversmith, J Sherwood & Sons of Birmingham.

Dating to the late Victorian or early Edwardian period, 1890/1910, it remains in excellent condition. The stand measures 9 1/4" x 4 1/2" x 8 1/2" tall to top of carrying handle. The teapot measures 7 1/4" handle to spout x 4 1/4 " tall to top of Ebony finial the sugar measuring 3 1/2" x 2 5/8" x 2 1/4" tall the milk jug or creamer measures 4" spout to handle x 2 1/2" tall to top of handle.
