Description

A charming little late Victorian Go-To-Bed made from cast brass in the form of a squirrel.

The (non-safety) matches would have been stored within and when one was struck, the lit match would be placed in the little hole in the base creating enough light to get up the stairs to to bed, hence the name, "Go-To-Bed".

This delightful novel example is complete with his two little original glass eyes.

Late Victorian in era, around 1890 and remaining in excellent condition. 2 1/2" x 2" x 2 1/2" tall.
