Description

A most unusual and highly collectible table lighter in silver plate. The central light is in the form of a castle turret and either side, towers.

The central light would have been filled with fuel and the wick lit. The two towers have a lid that removes each with a long "spill", the ends would be wrapped in a fuel soaked smaller wick and lit from the central flame.

The underside has a full mark with the makers for the most famous of English silver plate makers, Elkington and Co., together with the date letter for the year, 1869. The handle is lucky enough to retain the original regal monogram within a typically Victorian cartouche in the form of a belt and buckle. A wonderful piece in excellent condition. 6 3/4" x 5 1/4" deep inc. handle x 4 1/2" tall.
