Description
19th Century Louis XIV style gilt overmantle or wall mirror. A great look. Believed to have originally housed an early 17th Century Dutch painting by Jan Van Goyen (his paintings can reach high 6 figure sums). Not sure how old the frame is but certainly early 19th Century or earlier.A charming mirror, that is full of age and character. The frame has it's original finish, with wear and patina. Also, minor losses that have been sympathetically touched up over the years. No loose joints.
Overall maximum dimensions: 51cmH x 78cmW x 6cmD. Mirrored glass 31cmH x 58cmW. Can be hung in portrait or landscape.
The mirrored glass is in very good condition (replacement).
In good antique condition with minor historic knocks, marks, wear and imperfections, as is generally desirable with antique furniture. There are a few historic extinct woodworm holes that have been treated for good measure.
