Description
A small interesting 17th century walnut chest of European origin. The front is carved all over with floral motifs within a border. The lid opens to reveal a surprising carved and painted underside. Standing on bracket feet, with iron carrying handles, this is an exceptionally attractive chest. It has undergone restorations, such as the patches on the lid, and possible structural ones (one side is dovetailed, the other is not). The interior has been lined with hardboard some time ago to provide a clean storage space. Circa 1690Width 82cm (32")
