Ebonised and Gilt Classical Table Lamp

Description
An antique Classical column, wood with gilded gesso decoration against an ebonised background. The main part of the column is covered by rising acanthus leaves, above which is a beautifully executed anthemion frieze. The conversion into a lamp has been done sympathetically without disturbing the beauty and integrity of the column, placing it onto an ebonised solid mahogany base and centrally wiring it. The lamp is complete with a parchment coloured shade. Column is circa 1780.Hwith shade 113cm (44 1/2") Base 28cm (11") square
