Description

The walnut knee-hole desk dates from the 1690's. This example was made about 1720. It has a quartered top with cross-banding, feather-banding and re-entrant corners. 6 oak-lined drawers are arranged either side of a recessed cupboard, above which is a central "secret" frieze drawer. The cupboard has an additional feature in that it slides forward until it is flush with the front.
The base mould is original but the feet are restored. The locks are original. The brass handles and escutcheons have been replaced some time in the past.
It is a desk of great quality, with a golden colour.
