Description

This is a fine quality antique silver-plated Victorian Centre Piece bearing the makers stamp to the underside of the renowned silversmiths Benetfink & Co., Cheapside, London, mid 19th century in date.

This wonderful centerpiece was made in the manner of one of the greatest silversmiths of all time, Paul Storr, featuring a scalloped oyster shell top raised on a Maltese dolphin tripod base over a naturalistic plinth.
A lot of intricate detailing has gone into the creation of this beautiful item.
Benetfink & Co. was a large retail business located at 89-90 Cheapside, London, from c1845 to 1907. The firm described themselves as "furnishing ironmongers" and sold a huge range of metalware products for the home. An advertisement from 1852 claimed that Benetfink would furnish an eight-roomed house for £5.
