Joseph Machin Shell Pattern Tea Cup & Saucer c1815

Description
We have for sale a hard to find and attractive Bute shaped porcelain cup and saucer manufactured by Joseph Machin at his factory in Stoke on Trent in around c1810-15.This lovely cup and saucer is decorated with polychrome enamels in the Shell pattern. The cup and saucer is unmarked although the cup does have some sand grains imbedded in the glaze to the base.
The cup is 2.3 inches (6cm) high and the saucer is 5.3 inches (13.5cm) in diameter. The cup is in a very good condition, but the saucer does carry a hairline crack, which is reflected in the price.
