Description

We have for sale a rather unusual Swansea pottery serving dish dating to around 1814. The dish was probably decorated by Thomas Pardoe and was formerly part of the Sir Leslie Joseph Collection.

This rather unique serving dish consists of an all in one oval two handled bowl and stand elegantly decorated with a mint green foliate and scrolling gilt design bordered by orange and gilt bands. This rather quirky serving dish obviously sagged a little bit in the kiln so the bowl doesn't quite sit straight on its foot/stand. The serving dish carries an impressed Swansea mark and a Sir Leslie Joseph label to the base.

The serving dish is is just over 3.5 inches (9cm) high and 9 inches (23cm) wide. the serving dish is in a very good condition other than some minor wear to the decoration and what is probably a firing crack to the rim of the base.
