Silver Agate Handled Shoe Horn, Birmingham 1911

Description

We have for sale a very attractive and rather hard to find example of an early 20th century silver and agate handled steel shoe horn by the excellent Birmingham silversmiths Adie and Lovekin c1911.

The form of this unusual silver handled shoe horn is strongly influenced by a Scottish theme in that the silver handle has been fitted with 8 geometrically arranged agate stones. The handle also carries the makers marks for Adie and Lovekin along with the full English hallmarks for Birmingham 1911.

The shoe horn is 6.75 inches (17.1cm) long and 1.2 inches (3cm) wide at its widest point. The shoe horn is in a good to very good condition although there are a few spots of oxidation to the steel blade, some minor nibbles to a couple of the agate stones and a slight wrinkle in the handle around the makers mark.
