Description

We have for sale a very unusual heavy ornate late Victorian silver milk jug by the Scottish silversmith Brook and Son of 87 George Street, Edinburgh.

This very attractive and rather unique baluster shaped milk jug is decorated with an unusual floral design pierced rim which extends to a very elegant high loop handle. The body of the jug is supported on four pad feet and although made in Edinburgh carries full English hallmarks for Sheffield 1900 along with the makers marks for Brook & Son. The base of the also carries the Brook & Son company stamp to the base incorporating their business address in Edinburgh.

The jug is 3.75 inches (9.5cm) high, 5.5 inches (14cm) wide, 3.25 inches (8.3cm) wide and weighs 322g. It is in a very good to excellent condition with crisp hallmarks and only the light surface wear associated with careful polishing.
