Description

We have for sale an attractive and rather hard to find late Victorian arts and crafts silver vase by the prestigious firm of London jewelers and silversmiths Joseph Heming & Co Ltd.

This attractively planished half fluted conical silver vase is decorated with an art nouveau design. The vase carries full English hallmarks for London 1899 along with the small jewelers mark for Joseph Heming as apposed to the normal J.H over & Co in a trefoil silver makers mark. The base of the vase also carries the impressed mark Heming & Co, Conduit St, London.

Heming's is one of the most prestigious London Jewelers. The company was established in 1746 by Thomas Heming, who became Principal Goldsmith to King George III. The company has since passed through a number of generations of Hemings at Mayfair addresses including Bond Street and Conduit Street. The company is currently based at 10 Piccadilly Arcade. Heming's is famed for producing the finest antique jewellery and silver.

The vase is 5 inches (12.7cm) high, weighs 203g by our digital scales and is in a good condition other than some surface scratches. However, the side opposite the hallmark has been over polished indicative of having had an inscription removed.
